Membership of the Club is open to anyone interested in birds and in sympathy with the aims of BirdLife South Africa.
By joining the club, which is affiliated to BirdLife South Africa, you automatically become a member of BirdLife South Africa.
Wits Bird Club
Wits Bird Club looks after local matters, and organises lectures, field outings and other excursions. The central office looks after administrative, national and international matters. As a member of BirdLife you are entitled to attend activities organised by BirdLife and support the work that is being done for the conservation of birds and their environment. Information about BirdLife and its activities appears in their publication, Africa BirdLife, a bi-monthly magazine.
Membership is for a 12-month period from the date of receipt of payment and is renewable annually. BirdLife South Africa can be contacted on (011) 789-1122. Wits Bird Club is one of a number of branches of BirdLife South Africa and is based in Johannesburg. The club turned 60 in 2007 and has an active programme of outings, courses and lectures.
New members are always welcome, and no particular prior knowledge of birds is necessary.

Evening meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 19:15 for 19:30 at the Delta Environmental Centre, Delta Park, Road Number 3, Victory Park, unless otherwise stated.
The Club runs beginners’ courses and other specialist courses each year.
The Club produces a magazine, Bokmakierie, three times a year. This magazine not only provides articles of local interest, but also advises members of outings, courses and lectures. Contributions and advertising are welcome from all members.
As a member you are entitled to subscribe to Birdlife’s new publication Africa BirdLife at a preferential rate.
